Three mandatory tournament battles in Cygnus that Stocke and Aht have to fight on their own. There are two more tourney battles after this, but they’re entirely optional, not to mention obscenely difficult, even for a properly levelled team at this point. I think I can win the fourth one with better equipment if I return here endgame, and I’m not sure if the fifth one is even possible (worth trying and resetting if it does work though, since we don’t want any pointless levels on this run). Stocke and Aht… don’t make a very good duo at all. Sure, Aht sets up traps and Stocke pushes foes into them but certain problems arise. For one, there could be too many enemies on the field, as seen in the first battle. In a normal game, one can easily dispose of the frontline attackers with Stocke’s spells while Aht sets traps and heals; here, our damage potential is too low, and the damage received poses a serious threat. There are 5 enemies and together they occupy 6 spaces out of 9, so having pushing space is a problem. I go for an offensive strategy here, hoping to take out some enemy while using healing magic whenever I can squeeze it in without interrupting my offensive plans. Once two frontline attackers are down, there’s more breathing room (the archers are weak attackers). Since the archers don’t pose any risk at all, I chain them and attempt a steal. They don’t offer anything spectacular, but it’s still nice, you know? Next we face Bram and Hertz again… for the final time …
